A STUDY ON THE INDIGENOUS MEDICINAL VEGETATION AND TREATMENT PRACTICES OF MURONG GROUP IN KHAGRACHARI DISTRICT (BANGLADESH)

FUZY: An ethnomedicinal survey was carried out during August 08 to March 2008 amongst tribal healing practitioners in the Murong tribes. Various Murong Tribal professionals practiced inside their localities to get treating different kinds of disease of Ramgarh Upazila, Khagrachari districts of Chittagong Hill Tracts Region in Bangladesh. We all observed to work with 40 vegetation species owned by 29 households in various treatment of disease. This diversity simply adds to the uniqueness of the classic medicinal methods, and takes scientific probability of discovering diverse drugs coming from different medicinal plants to take care of any given health problem. These tribe medicinal vegetation were mostly used for treatment of constipation, coughing, fever, diarrhea, dysentery, diuretic, diabetes, eczema, itches, jaundice, skin disease, throwing up, wound, joint pain and worm. The plants were collected and identified botanically along with their medical name, neighborhood name, family name, behavior, parts used and therapeutic uses. This detailed data will be helpful for the pharmacognosist, botanist and pharmacologist to get the collection and identification of the plant because of their research work.

has been a dramatic increase in the demand to get

medicinal plants for use in classic medicine and

contemporary and alternative medicine in both

developing and designed countries one particular; thus, a large

number of people constantly use this kind of medication

because herbal treatment is, in some instances,
